After spending Day 1 focused on UI and development work, Brian Hoskins focused on the business side with a presentation on Marketplace and Monetization. The presentation included stats on Windows Phone usage, downloads, and average selling prices for apps. Hoskins relayed several tips for how startups can maximize profitability for their apps, both free and paid.
The companies dug deep on app development today, meeting with Motivity and iLink for 1:1 sessions and coding. Each company is in a different stage of development, with some still designing and others ready to drop their first code. Either way, the companies are working hard to bring the best apps to Marketplace.
Hoskins continued with 1:1 business consulting sessions throughout the day. We had a chance to check out some initial prototypes and design mocks. Lots of progress after only one day!
Vaideeswaran Sethuraman from Divum presented on the Windows Phone partner experience, as startups stayed late in the night to finish coding and prepare for Thursday’s Demo Day.
Tomorrow will highlight key elements of the BizSpark program and continue with more development time, 1:1 business and technical consulting sessions.
